I have a box of golf balls and have had them for 3 months already and I havent started using them yet.

If I dont use them, will they go bad or is a golf ball good forever? or are there things in the golf ball that needs to be used??

  1. I don't think golf balls go "bad"

Range balls are whacked 200 yards over and over and over.  They aren't "bad"

I believe that you can use them, unless you found them in your leaky basement and they are filled with mold and cockroaches.

  2. I've never heard of golf balls having an "expiration date".

  3. Not to my knowledge.

  4. Hope.. this helps. :)

I think.. they have a few years.. left in them!

  5. Most good golf balls are shrink wrapped by the manufacturer.  A golf ball should be used within 90 days of removing the shrink wrap, due to the fact that golf balls will absorb moisture.  This cause the golf ball to become misshaped, which inturn leads to shorter and less acurate shots.

  6. 3 months is nowhere near long enough to worry about it.

Taylormade balls used to be sold in plastic sleeves because they said that balls would absorb moisture over time, and lose some distance. The numbers they gave said that in general, balls would lose about 10-15% of their distance after 2-3 years.

  7. you will be fine, check the box just in case

  8. no

  9. some people say that they lose accuracy, but ive never had a problem although im not a hardcore lol!

  10. Lol, it shouldn't matter. These types of things should be made to last. I have tennis balls that are still in their can that my dad bought 30+ years ago, and they still work better than any of these new ones.

  11. I would agree with most of the others here (with the exception of the "Shrink Wrap" golf pro...lol) that golf balls (not lost) should easily last several years.

However, if they start to SMELL funny....then maybe....

  12. The older, "wound" balls might go bad. They were essentially made of a rubber core wrapped in rubber bands. If you've ever seen a rubber band after its sat in a drawer for a couple of years, you'll know what I mean.

The newer balls (last ten years) are completely different. Their solid materials should last for a very long time indeed. When there's a good sale on a favorite ball, I'll buy a years's supply at once.

To be safe, however, keep them away from extremes of heat and cold. Your garage probably isn't the best place for them.

  13. I have asked a similar question!  General consensus is that under normal conditions (room temperature) they'll hold their punch for a couple of years.   Don't expose to extreme heat or cold.

  14. yeah dude there going to get expire it gonna grow molds and stuff

  15. Couldn't tell ya.. Mine are all in the woods or at the bottom of a pond..  Can't seem to keep em around long enough to find out.

Shrinked wrapped??? hahaha   are you buying them from walmart again?? hahahah  please........................... PGA golfer my ***.. Obviously another YA answers wanna be.

  16. After time many golf balls do absorb moisture. It happens very slowly you could maybe lose a few COR points in 6 months. If you keep them somewhere where there is less moisture then it could take longer. It won't be anything that would be noticeable in your round though. As most people have said before keep them away from extreme temperatures and you will be fine.
