  1. The spikes in your golf shoes will help keep your feet from slipping during you're swing.

If you want to put it to the test, wear your tennis shoes on a morning when the grass still has dew on it and see if your feet stay grounded or if they slip during a full shot.

It's no different than wearing cleats in baseball.  The cleats don't help you hit, throw or play better defense, but they give you better traction.

  2. Since they eliminated metal spikes, golf shoes are worthless.  I am a golf professional and I rarely change into them before I play.  I miss the old metal spikes.

  3. Golf shoes [bought at a thrift store] sure improve the ability to walk on ice.

  4. You will get more traction and balance with golf shoes, you wont be slipping all over the place wearing golf shoes. Golf shoes really do help

  5. wearing golf shoes allows you to firmly plant your feet in the ground so you can be balanced during your swing

  6. You might stay on your feet, especially during the winter months. If you do not wear golf shoes you could well find yourself doing a pirouette and falling flat on your backside.

  7. Absolutely!

To what degree may depend on the weather. In wet weather golf shoes are a 100% must. It is vital that you have a good base to complete any full swing. If you slip, god knows what’s going to happen, you would probably hurt yourself!

I would say 10 strokes difference, in dry weather, mostly due to bad tee shots, and misses on long irons. In wet weather…disaster.

  8. Tennis shoes are ok for many non-golfers to go out and play at golf.  If you want to play your best, good golf shoes will help, especially in any surface that you might slip on, such as wet grass, loose gravel or on a slope.  You will also feel more confident wearing the right equipment.

  9. The pros swear by them, but they go for any edge they can.

I don't think you'll take "strokes" off your game with them, but it does help keep your swing consistent, especially on the later holes when you may be getting tired (if you walk).

  10. i dnt see a diference i prefer to play in tenis shoes bc they are more comftrble i tried golf shoes and i didnt notice a difference

  11. I don't think there will be a difference but that they have different looks

  12. There should be an enormous difference in your game.  Golf shoes help balance your swing, and balance is probably the second greatest component of the game, with confidence (or the mental game) being the foremost.  A good golf swing is always balanced.  Look at the pro's... You never see them off-balance during normal shots.
