  1. a grave digger - it would really look great on your CV

  2. Most don't, but there are still a few !  Its especially useful for older smaller churchyards where you cannot bring a backhoe, but you'd need to do some travelling around several localities, not just work in one yard.  If you expect to work at one yard, they might be / probably are in a union, with sticky rules from either side or even both sides (union and management) and may also have some arbitrary rules with "safety" regulations in mind  --- they might not allow you to do it.  Management would want productivity level at a certain speed that can't be done by shovel.  Probably the only way to make a career out of the way you want to do it is to be an independent one that travels around various localities and work at various churchyards or small yards that don't have backhoes, and  under the circumstances, would need to get compensated for the transportation expense and for the downtime, ie- being unique and providing the hard work where machines wouldn't be feasible.

  3. they mostly use machines now

plus it would be quicker and they wont have to pay you so much for your time

  4. They use a backhoe.  They still have shovels to finish filling in after the coffin is buried.

How long do you think it would take one or two people to dig a hole six feet deep, six feet long and four feet wide?  I wouldn't even want to try it!

  5. They use a machine.

  6. yes both machine and shovels

  7. yes they still use shovels.
