Do great white sharks hunt in groups?

  1. Normally, they don't. But there was a case when several worked together to immobilize a whale.

Not much is actually known about shark sociality (for obvious reasons) but they seem to live solitary lives but in a metastructural format.  To understand that, picture seagulls on the beach.  Each one has their own territory, but if there is food, they all manage to converge on it.  The more converging, the more they attract others.  

    You might also be interested to learn that Great Whites have a very high encephalization quotient.  This is a brain to body size ratio and seems to be used as a measure reflecting "intelligence".  All other animals that show a high Encephalization Quotient are known to be very social.
