Question:

Do grocery store prices anger you?

It seems like every time I go grocery shopping the prices have risen. I feel like I spend a lot of money for nothing. Do you have any ideas on how to get more for less, other than shoplifting?

  1. i go online http://www.aussiefoodshop.com/australian... serves me. cheers

  2. coupons

  3. To help beat the higher prices I do two things from the start.

First on Sunday I check the coupons in the newspaper and clip them out the ones that I can use.

Then on Wednesday the paper has the grocery store sales listed.

So I plan our menus around what's on sale.  One idea I thought of recently was cutting down on the amount of meat we consume. The average person is only supposed to eat a piece of meat the size of a deck of cards...so I think we have been over doing it.

In some grocery stores the produce dept. puts some items marked down on sale just because they have a small blemish. For example "apples"....so I buy them remove the bad spots and make a home made apple pie.

It's really being organized and having a plan of attack how to shop and save.

If you stop buying deli foods and bakery foods and make it yourself it will be a large savings but most of all better for your health. For example buy a turkey breast and use it for dinner and sandwiches instead of spending 6 dollars a pound for deli turkey....the turkey breast in the meat dept. only cost about 1.50 per pound.  See the big savings?

When it comes to cleaning supplies I look at the tag on the shelf and it tells how much you are paying per ounce...for each product....that helps you decide which is the best deal.

We have a drug store chain here called Walgreen's they have great sales in the Sunday paper....for milk that I grab it's a good savings compared to the other stores. ...plus many other items. It's worth checking them out.

Well I've talked enough....good luck in your shopping stay cool don't let it get to you.....

One last thing,  I make lots of dinners in one pot that can stretch for a couple days....like macaroni and beef, or beef stew, chicken and rice....or seafood gumbo.....anything that you prepare like that really cuts costs....

  4. Grocery store prices do not anger me.

The prices reflected are not a fair representation of its complete value. Consider this: if you were to grow your own food and equate the value of your time in doing so, how expensive would the food be?

Food prices are cheap. Our society has become so accustomed to cheap food prices due to the massive influx of produce that we have lost sight of this.

As produce from farther regions become more scarce due to the implications of not being able to compete in markets without competitive prices through volume and lower quality produce, expect to pay more for your food.

Check with a local butcher (if there is one) as cold cuts are quite cheap. Where I live, cold cuts are sold for $1.29 per 100 grams. A very reasonable price. Compare $12.90 per kilogram of said meat to beef jerky which may cost as much as $55.00 per kilogram.

  5. Buy bulk - this always gives you the best value for

    amount of item(s).

  6. people walking around with stolen shopping carts is my bigest pet peeve.

  7. Depending on where you shop ! Shop at Lucky's

  8. No they don't anger me.

    I'm used to it.

you can cut coupons... that's about it... and start growing your own produce.
