  1. I have the distinct advantage of living among an Old Order Amish community.  I have loads of help.  We have always treated them with deep respect and have gone out of our way to be "neighborly"

In return we have been treated wonderfully by the most decent, hardworking people I've ever had the privilege of knowing.

The neighbor boys saw us pushing 6x round bales off a trailer, sprinted across 3-5 acre pastures to help.  They off load my square bales, even the huge 850 pounders we imported from out west last winter.

I pay them 12/per hour for skilled labor (building stalls, adding on to the barn, etc.) and $8 per hour for general labor.  I am, more often than not, sorely disappointed whenever I have work done by others now...because they are much, much more productive at that price than others are for much more.

  2. In the southeast USA. grooms and general barnworkers get about $8 or $9 per hour.

  3. Well i'll soon be working at a stable most likely as soon as im old enough (1 more year) and maybe that will get me free lessons which are $25.00.

  4. Most barns in our areas when the need help, it is about 10-25 hours a week at minimum wage.  If you were lucky enough to get full time, there were no benefits given.

If I were to hire a stable hand myself, I would probably pay around $8.00 to $8.50 an hour, and it would just be for chores such as cleaning out stalls, and feeding, but even with feeding, you have to watch your stable hands to make sure, each horse that gets boarded or even the ones you yourself own get the right feed and the right amount or there could be major problems involved.

    I hope this helps.

  5. I worked on occasion at a big event barn and made about 8.50 an hour. My sister works part time there now and she's almost at $10 an hour, and she just started. This place is really nice though so I guess it just depends where it is. I'm in Georgia, USA by the way.

  6. I have stable help...ME.  My pay is the pure joy of being around my horses and caring for them.  Sorry, I can't be more helpful.  I do believe that in my area actual stable help is paid very close to minimum wage if it is not taken in trade for horse boarding or lessons.

  7. I was stable help several years ago while I was in college for a summer.  I was paid minimum wage, no benefits, worked 6 1/2 days a week, 12-13 hour days except Sunday, which was a 6 hour day.

  8. I earn £6-50 per a hour and if I help get the horses ready for a lesson, then i get an extra £10

  9. yes i have one in my barn i think u will get 20$ 4 feeding

  10. I get 7.50$ an hour i geuss it up to you. i fly spry trun in/out water and clean stalls. six on my havy days and four on my light days. hope this . it a big boarding place though. :)
