  1. no not if you look after the chickens proberly and clean them out weekly

  2. Unfortunately, i will have to say yes. It wasn't the chickens fault as such though. And we clean them out regularily!

We've had chickens for about 12 and a half years now, and we never used to have a rat problem up till a few months ago.

The house in front of us (which is actually an old windmill), went uninhabited for quite a few months, so we suspect they came from there. We also saw a dead rat in our neighbour's front garden. Our street is quite a well kept, clean one too. The only reason they hang about the place is because we let the chickens have easy access to their corn all day long. We've tried putting down humane rat traps, but that only caught us one, the little blighters are just too clever to be caught.

And to make matters worse, we've started seeing baby rats about... :-/

Usually though, chickens won't attract rats, not unless you live in a highly populated area, or the country.

    no..

I have chickens I have no idea why they would attract rats

keep chicken feed in a secure container.. the feeder should be raised off the ground anyhow...like mine is suspended by wire.

  4. No, rats will come to eat the garden. Go to your local home depot or Lowe's, theirs Stuff you can use to keep rats and other pests away. Put tell them you have chickens.
