  1. You must have a HDTV 1080p and a Blue-ray Disc player, to view true HD

  2. sorry but dont listen to the first responder in this thread. yes it truly makes a difference i just connected my hdmi cables today and it looks freakin sick just make sure that you have hd programming

  3. An HDMI Cable will not necessarily improve the quality of your picture. An HDMI cable is just that a cable. It is a link between two devices. If the devices do not support HD then using an HDMI cable is not going to suddenly make your TV explode with awesome picture all of a sudden. In your situation, your tv supports  (1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p, 480i). That means your TV supports 1080p which is full HD. So if you got a HD cable box and then ran a HDMI cable, you would see a big difference.

If your going to need an HDMI longer than 15 feet, make sure you get a gold plated cable instead of copper because it keeps the signal quality higher because gold is a better conductor.

Good luck with your TV and here is where i got my cable if you are looking for one.

  4. yes, as long as the HDMI cable is compatible with your TV. Without the handshake problem, HDMI should deliver a better picture quality than components cable.

But as for HD boxes, you might want to stick with components as it eliminate most of the handshake issues and HD boxes can only deliver up to the maximum of 1080i.

Both HDMI and Components deliver up to 1080i, but HDMI can deliver up to 1080p, which exceed the 1080i.

If you are looking at Blue Ray, or game consoles, HDMI could be the type of connection that you want, if your TV can go to 1080p.
