Question:

Do high schools in Mexico have recess?

I know it sounds stupid, but I saw a flash cartoon recently that included a high school setting, and it looked like there was something similar to an elementary school recess. The artist is Mexican, so I was wondering if he was drawing off his experiences or if it were a fictionalized setting.

  1. Cartoons are  to make fun of things. Yes, there´s a recess in every school.

  2. I am from guadalajara, mexico and of course we have recess. In high school are around 15-30 minutes, but depends by school anyways.

  3. yea they do im sure, everyone needs a break

  4. I lived in Mexico my junior year of high school.  I went to school from 7am to 12:30 pm and we had a 20 minute break around 10am where we would hang out in a central courtyard and eat snacks.  Thats a pretty normal schedule for the area I lived in.

  5. Well like 4 years ago when i was in high school the deal was like this, you can leave when you want, they're not your parents so they don't really care if you skip classes, you can pick what classes you want to take fallowing a pre established program, according to your grades you can pick first during your inscription so, if you're the first one you can choose any class you need ( you need to approve some subjects to be able to pick some others its and you have a tutor who helps you) so you can pretty much choose at what time do you want to attend and with wich teacher, if you're the last one you can only take the leftovers so your shedule is pretty much screwed.

classes begins at an hour (lets say 9 am) so you have to be at the classrom at 9:10, you can leave at 9:55, and the same with the next class, so you have like 15 minutes between classes to eat or do whatever you want, if you have classes at at 9 and at 11 you have a free hour and you may leave and go to you house if you want ( and if you are able to come back in one hour...)

Many schools arent like this one, mine were a university campus highschool so it was an extension of the city college nothing to do with the rules of the state highschools...

    Hope it helps =)

  6. I live in Mexico and have young friends who attend high school.  They do NOT have recess.  They do have about a 20 minute lunch period.

  7. schools have almost the same systems here and in mexico (that means a yes) last year this was my shceduele:

2 classes of 50mins each then a 12 min break then 2 more 50 min classes then a 50 min recess/lunch then 3 more 50 min classes and they gave us 5 mins between evry class

  8. today kids get no breaks. They get a 15-20 min lunch period. No recess. And all their vacations are getting cut short. One of my students had a NYC trip coming up but then they canceled it out of the blue. And when i first got my job i was stunned about this 1 thing. Over half the rooms in the schools do not have windows. I was like what the friggen h**l.

  9. Most high schools have (recess), 20-30 minutes.

Also most high schools also have Physical Education

  10. It's been a looong time since high school, but as far as I remember, yes, we did have a long recess (20 or 30 minutes) during the school day (7:30 to 2:30 in my case), plus 5 or sometimes 10 minutes between classes.

During the long recess we had something to eat at the cafeteria or we brought some lunch from home. Nothing elaborated, just a sandwich and soda.
