  1. yes as placebo ,

  2. Yes they do. Depending on what your condition is that you are using a homeopathic remedy for, it is a good idea to see a trained homeopath or to really study up.

There are no harmful side effects to homeopathy (I am specifically talking about homeopathy not herbs or other forms of natural medicine, people often mistake homeopathy to encompass all natural medicine, it does not) but it is important to get the correct remedy in order to have results.

for instance, in allopathic medicine, if you have a headache you take an aspirin or some similar pill, all headaches are treated pretty much the same.

In homeopathy you will have a different remedy depending if your headache is better with heat or cold, movement or stillness, if it is accompanied by other seemingly unrelated symptoms. The selection of the remedy is very specific and when properly chosen the effect can be profound!

  3. It's nice to see other intelligent, thoughtful answers (in8atlas, Michelle). Whiterav is correct in that the qualifications of a particular practitioner are what matter, although incorrect in associating a diagnosis with homeopathy. (This is a main reason, in fact, that homeopathy is not insured. Insurance companies require a diagnosis, while not requiring a diagnosis is among homeopathy's strengths.)

Homeopathy relies on an individual's subjective and objective constitutional symptoms. Constitutional symptoms are those that make us different from everyone else: Some like spicy food, others do not. Some sleep on their stomachs, others on their side. Some tolerate humidity and sunshine, others get heat exhaustion. Additionally, health history, family health history, and hereditary influences all play a part in remedy selection.

This is a reason that, under the care of a homeopath, people were healing from health problems such as Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Syndrome (CFS), Fibromyalgia (FMS) and, more recently, the recurrence of whooping cough years before a conventional diagnosis could even be made.

Iit is important to understand that homeopathy is the philosophy and reason for taking a remedy, not the vial of remedy itself.

In homeopathy, there is the equivalent to conventional medicine's "first-aid" kit. Without understanding and applying homeopathic principles to each remedy given, however, the person may be taking a homeopathic remedy, without being homeopathically treated.

This is the main reason for failure in self-help homeopathy, as well as through practitioners who combine homeopathy with their general practice.

Homeopaths certified to practice classical homeopathy not only help acute care problems (coughs, colds, ear infections, digestive upsets, etc.), but chronic health problems resistant to both conventional medicine and other healing modalities, at times even those considered incurable.

We receive referrals from psychologists, MDs, psychiatrists, veterinarians, chiropractors, acunpuncturists, herbalists, and more.

To answer your question - speaking from personal holistic healing experience spanning 40 years, professional (homeopathic) experience approaching 30 years: yes.

  4. All alternative medicines work.......the result is also dependant on a correct diagnosis in the first instance......just as there are many Drs who mis diagnose, there are also alternative practitioners who also do......
