  1. They pierce your skin and suck your blood. Fortunately you get a warning, as it hurts, unlike the leech and the mosquito, who take much of your blood away b4 u notice anything. This is because they lack the anesthetizing chemical


  2. I don't know anything about their size, but they certainly do bite.  The bite is very painful, almost as bad as a yellow jacket wasp.  I  know from personal experience. :~(

  3. Of course they bite.  And it hurts!  It looks like a big welt by the time you realize it.
