  1. They have pleasure while they are doing it.

  2. You call yourself horselover, but know nothing about horses - why don't you read a book instead of asking dumb questions?

  3. I almost missed this one - - would have skipped it as I didn't know the answer. Some great answers you guys!  I did know about the dolphins,  as I knew someone who trained them for the military (!!) down in Florida.  But as for horses, judging from the (relatively few, maybe 15 or 20) live covers I've witnessed, the mare looked a bit aloof, like she was just tolerating the procedure. I have seen plenty of colts and stallions masturbating, though.

Good question, and some really informative answers!  I'm enlightened!

  4. LOLOLOL...Well I can say I have been on the other end of the leadrope when Many Many Stallions climaxed and I can tell you, YES they get pleasure from it. Now for the mares.....It seems much more on the lines of duty, or to procreate but they wouldn't stand there and not complain if they were not getting some pleasure out of it. At least my experiences with breeding horses.

I have had some tough mares to AI though....

  5. As far as I know, mares are the only animal that are lucky enough to have their clitoris INSIDE their vaginas. This is so they can climax quickly. Uterine contractions from an o****m draw sperm inside. It is imperative that horses reach o****m quickly, as mating in the wild leaves them vulnerable to predators.

I've seen a pair get so "into" the act, they were rolling on the ground together moaning, still coupled.

A good breeding stallion also spends a fair bit of time pleasuring the mare with oral s*x. I've never seen a mare reciprocate, though.

Do they experience as much pleasure as humans? Oh much more. They don't have all of society's anti-pleasure messages in their heads. The mare certainly isn't thinking, "Do I look fat? Will he marry me?"

And just as with human s*x, "thinking" has nothing to do with performing the act. Our s*x is instinctual as well. If it's any good, that is ;-D

Re: sexual bonding. While a stallion will service any mare who allows him, a mare and stallion will pair up within a herd.

  6. actually I was watching a program, and the mare stood for her stallion when she wasn't in season, she had missed him because she got stolen by another stallion, and ran back to him and also chimpanzees do it cause they like it,so I suppose at least the males like it (they seem to at least),I don't know about the females though,I think the females only do it cause of instinct, but I have seen a jenny donkey go up to a jack and try to kick him to get him to mount so I guess it could go wither way....

  7. To shesatreasure....thanks for a good laugh! I wasn't gonna respond to this, since I didn't know the answer....yours was very informative and also fun!

  8. Hmm, you asked a very unusual question, and it will be difficult to answer...

    1) animals (which includes humans) are governed by an instinctive desire to reproduce.. It's part of our "duty" if you like, and if you take the scientific viewpoint, it's what we were put on this earth to do..

But.. your question goes deeper than that.. is this duty pleasurable to an animal (specifically a horse)... and I think it is likely to be...

for one, any person who has bred horses for years will tell you that an estrous mare will actively seek out a stallion (and vice versa) and be quite persistant whilst doing so... When reproducing in the wild (and at the correct time) mares remain relaxed and absolutely happy... so I'll put my money on a big YES...

Now... whether or not that pleasure is exactly the same TYPE of pleasure that a different animal (or human) would feel, is a question that's much harder to answer...

I believe it certainly would be, and that the horse feels pleasure in the same way that we do,  and also is aware that it is fulfilling it's "purpose" as an animal when that happens..

It was a difficult question to answer, yet also one that you were brave enough to ask.. I hope I did it justice..

**** Note for Gentle Spirit*** I'm surprised that you call yourself Gentle Spirit, as your answer has nothing gentle about it... This is Yahoo ANSWERS, and if you're not aware, this is where people can come to get answers to things they do not understand.. I am certain that there are things in this life that you have yet to fully comprehend, and it's only by asking questions that we can learn to grow and be educated... I'd like to see you try to rebuild an engine in front of me, or swap out a Lan card or processor on your computer... and then wait for you to ask a (what was it you said?) dumb question....

Give Horse lover a break... she's just trying to understand is all.. I'll bet when you eventually get married, you'll spend a lifetime trying to understand your partner... but you'll (hopefully) love them. *******

  9. Horse Lover?????  Is this a serious question?  Have you ever been a around a living breathing animal?  This question is ridiculous & frankly screams ignorance!!!

    (_?_)

  10. Animals reproduce with 'instincts'...not thought.

Dolphins I believe...are the only mammal that copulates for pleasure besides humans.

**edit...I was referring to breeding when NOT in season.  They have no interest in s*x or trying to reproduce if the female is not in season.

The humans and dolphins are the ones who will 'do it' because it FEELS GOOD...at any time!  NOT horses.  A mare must be receptive to 'have a good time'...sheesh!

If they bred because 'it felt good' you'd be on watch with your stallions ALL the time whether the mare was in season or not.  Just because it FEELS GOOD is not WHY they breed.

As for feeling good at the time of breeding...yes, I would assume so.  At least the stallions posture after breeding would lead to that conclusion.

No wonder this place is losing contributors...

    *Hi E!*

**EDIT..yeah...semantics...again.  I really need the head-desk smilie sometimes!

Forgot about chimps...I remember hearing that one.

**edit to E...I'm so sick of this site and those stupid asinine thumbs...yahoo needs to get rid of them.  That will stop most of the BS on this site.

  11. Most animals o****m but have s*x mainly for reproduction purposes rather than pleasure.

There are a few species (other than just dolphins, whales & primates) that do have s*x for pleasure.

Then there several species that are completely solitary animals unless it is mating season.

Since we humans aren't able to properly communicate with animals and put them as inferior to ourselves.  Scientists previously assumed most animals are unable to achieve emotions and comprehend feelings as complex as our own.  They are now stating they will have to do further research in order to completely understand this issue.

Scientist do acknowledge that dolphins, some whales, primates & birds will have intercourse when reproducing isn't possible. (Males interacting with males, females interacting with females, Males & females interacting when already pregnant, soon after giving birth, and when females are not in season)

Both animals & humans are biologically programmed to reproduce. Men are programmed to sow their seeds in as many women as possible while woman are programmed to pick a strong, providing man for their chilren.

o****m is the bodies way of telling you "the job" has been done.

  12. This is an exceptionally interesting question not least because it triggers the same question of other species such as dolphins as has already been mentioned.  You are to be congratulated !

My take on it is a definite YES. Mares do not as far as I know exhibit much if any sexual interest when they are outside season but they become very active when in it, often backing up to geldings and 'winking' their vulvas. In a situation I have known where a field of mares was adjacent to a field containing the stallion it was the mares who all came in season together and who then jumped into the stallion's field and were promptly 'serviced'..  So Yes, mares will seek out sexual contact and the presumption must be that they want and like it.  Stallions and geldings are known to m********e. It's achieved by rhythmic bouncing, pressing or sliding of the erect p***s against the abdomen and is very common and can even be triggered by some equine drugs (imipramine hydrochloride is one) - a sort of equine viagra! Horses like many other species (not just dolphins) and like humans experience spontaneous erection and masturbation and from a very young age too (indeed anytime after 7 days old in the case of horses).  Horses, Red deer, porcupines, porpoises and monkeys also frequently engage in masturbation even when receptive females are available so it must at the very least be related to contentment and therefore to enjoyment.

Thanks for such a 'stimulating' question :-)

  13. AM boss tom cat - read the question and you will knowthat the asker is inquiring as to whether horses breed for pleasure or purely for breeding purposes and get no enjoyment out of it. Dont be so harsh, many many people have never been around stallions and there is so much to learn about these beautiful creatures.

The first 5 answers, excluding 'gentle...' gave you great answers
