  1. yes! walk is good Darin labor it helps the baby head drop in the Urdu's ask the nurse the kind of moving you can do.good l**k with labor

  2. I was able to get up to go to the bathroom, other mothers walked the hallway...my labor progressed quickly so I didn't get that....it all depends on your labor.

  3. I was allowed to walk, although I didn't walk the halls, just in my room.  I also tried the "birthing ball", which is like the big exercise bouncy balls.  I really didn't care for it.  I doubt they will let you shower because you will have monitors and an IV hooked to you.  Lying on my back just made the labor pains worse.  It's all up to you and how you feel.  Good luck!

  4. For most hospital in the US, you are free to move around if you are in sober condition and not attached to some type of machines like the oxygen for most part!

I had 4 days labor and the fourth day, I was exhausted from having contractions pain every 3 minutes for 56 hours. So, I couldn't even move when I finally get to the hospital, I went straight to bed and I was given the happy shot to help me relax!

  5. you need to check with the policy of your hospital and your doctor because it varies widely. the hospital i am going to be at requires that you are in bed as soon as your water breaks (my doctor is writing orders that i don't have to remain in bed at any point) and also the hospital uses routine monitoring which does confine you to bed unless they have wireless monitoring (which my  hospital does not).  there are a ton of options for childbirth and many hospitals have specific rules that they follow unless they have doctors orders stating otherwise. create a birth plan and go over it with your doctor!!

  6. Yes, you do have freedom to move. Sometimes, however, you need to remind the hospital employees of your rights.

  7. most hospitals encourage these things to move your labor along.

  8. as long as you don't get your epidural you should be able to move around as much as you want, it will actually help the baby come faster. but once you get the epidural your legs are numb and you will have to stay in bed.

  9. Unless you live in an area with a VERY out-of-date hospital, you will be free to walk around for most of your labor.

You may have to spend time in bed for intermittent monitoring. And, of course, if you opt for meds you would have to stay in bed. But even if  you are in bed, there would be NO reason you would have to lie on your back. (In fact, I was actively discouraged from spending time on my back.)

  10. No, they will let you move around during labor, unless they are doing fetal monitoring then you have to stay in bed the whole time.
