Question:

Do hotels ever offer extras on special occasions?

My boyfriend and I are going away for the weekend of his birthday. If I called or emailed ahead of time to tell them it's his birthday the day we're arriving, would they offer any extras?

I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with this, would it be a really rude thing to ask or would it simply get me nowhere? Thanks!

  1. Absolutely!

  2. Hi there.

You will usually be charged, but decent hotels will set you up with champagne, chocolates, flowers - pretty much whatever you think might please him.

If you eat there, they will usually be able to do you a cake or special dessert too.

Just get in touch and ask them!

    Good luck, Steve.

  3. It never hurts to ask, and its never rude.

As far as what they will do, it really depends on what kind of hotel, and if you have any past relationship with the hotel. If its your first time there, its doubtful they would do much if anything. If you were lucky maybe they would leave a birthday welcome. Something like a card and balloons or flowers. Thats about the best you can ask for-- for free. If you are willing to pay, they will do just about whatever you want. Cake, champagne, ect ect.

My advice is to give it a shot though. You never know what they will say.
