  1. I recently took a Anthropology class and it all about the evolution of apes...finishing off the class i left convinced that we do evolve from apes.

  2. That's What They Want You To Believe... Do You Think That If We Were Made From Monkeys Gorillas Whatever U Think They Would Be More Inteligent Than The Human Race Humans Camed From GOD He Was Our Creator If You Want Proof Check The Bible (Genesis Chapter 1-Up) God Bless You

  3. Yes.  I'm left bemused by people proclaiming: 'No, evolutionary theory states people and apes evolved from a common ancestor, but not an ape'.  It doesn't state that.

People and other apes indeed share a common ancestor.  It was the first ape.  It was less human-like than orang-utans, still less human-like than gorillas, and even less human-like than chimps.  We share a relatively recent common ancestor with chimps.  Molecular evidence indicates it lived something like 6 to 7 million years ago and, by descent, it was an ape.  A million or so years earlier than that, there was an ape ancestor held in common by gorillas, chimps and humans.  Earlier still, another ape gave rise to descendants including that group and orang-utans.  We are thus apes by descent.

We evolved from apes, they evolved from a monkey, and it evolved from lemur-like primates.  Incidentally, we also appear to be descended from a 200 million year old squeaky insectivore called /Morganucodon/, or something very similar to it.

That's the sort of stuff I was referring to.  Ask an evolutionary biologist whether he or she is an ape.  Pick any evolutionary biologist in the world.  They will tell you they are, and that's regardless of your wrong assertion to the contrary.  As stated above, you are an ape by descent.  You are not a member of some kind of little communitiy of ever so special chosen godlets.  You happen to be a human ape.

  4. Humans are classified as great apes now.  You're a great ape.  I'm a great ape.  Your parents are great apes.

"Ape" is an inclusive term, including both extant and extinct forms.  The ancestor we share with chimps was certainly a great ape.  The ancestor we share with gorillas was a great ape.

  5. We evolved from apes, and we are apes.  Remember that ape is not a species, it is a clade, which we belong to(along with chimps, gorillas, orangs and gibbons)

  6. NO. This question has been asked and answered for over 50 years. BOTH HUMANS AND APES EVOLVED FROM A NOW EXTINCT ANCESTOR. We are branches of the same tree.

  7. No, not from apes. But if you go back a million years or so your grandma would look like something like a cross between an Australian aborigine and an ape.

Apes share a common ancestor with us that is now extinct.

God created us with evolution. Don't listen to the suckers who don't know how to read an old book.

  8. yes, the theory is that humans evolved from apes through natural selection.  it happens very slowly, over many millions of years.

  9. Not quite.  Humans and modern apes evolved from a common ancestor several millions of years ago.

That's a lot of great great great .......grandmas.
