Do humans find other races attractive?

Well i was talking with some friends the other day, and the topic of conversation turned to races. We were discussing iff we found other races attractive and it came to a half half vote.

Now im personally caucasian and dont find other races attractive, thats not to say im not friends with other races or think that my race is superior in any way.

Im just intarested in what you guys think?

It's normal to prefer your own race. Whenever anyone does a psychology study they find that people seem to go for faces very similar to their own; one found that a computer morphed face the of the viewer to into the opposite s*x got the highest scores.

I think the low levels of interracial relationships would support that too.

Although, it doesn't seem to apply so much to the Chinese in the UK, half of their marriages are to white British people. East Asians generally seem to have a high exogamy rate when living in caucasian majority countries.

But it's not really uncommon, people tend to stick with what they grew up with

Also, we're dealing with the Oedipus Complex here, so you're basically looking for someone like your mother, and if you're Caucasian, so is she.

The psychology has nothing to do with "Oedipus."  While Freud's methodology was revolutionary, no one takes his actual theories seriously anymore.  There are much more straightforward theories with actual data to explain human behavior.

People are more likely to find other races attractive if they have more experience with them.  This isn't an exact correlation, it is simply more likely.

This phenomenon is known as the "mere exposure effect."  We tend to like those things we are exposed to the most.  If someone grows up seeing their own race as somehow different from other races, they will be less likely to find other races attractive.

If however, there is sufficient experience with all races to the point where the person doesn't recognize serious differences between them, that person is more likely to find a person attractive regardless of race.

This explains why not everyone in your group shared an opinion.  It is heavily based on background and how their personality developed.

Many of us don't care -- that is, we just find attractive people attractive -- regardless of race.

First off, its quite a common thing that a certain race doesn't find another  race attractive so its not abnormal at all. There are only three races based on scientific categoration which are 1) Caucasian 2) Asian 3) black. People are a mix of one of these and some are not.

Its not uncommon either that once in awhile you may find a person in a race other than yours attractive. Its just up to the individual and any position you take on the issue is the proper position.

I'm from Holland, everyone in my family is Dutch. But I am engaged to a handsome young man from my country. But I think big eyed people from Africa with nice symmetry are attractive as well as big eyed people from India with nice symmetry.

I like people with sharp noses, prominent eyes, thick hair, and are very tall with broad shoulders. If I'm going for blue/grey eyes, I only like the kind in Holland they are very clear in colouring. The same goes with blonde or brown hair. Only from my country.

But I do like the tall, dark features of Ethiopian men and Indian men.

Some dark skinned symmetrical Brazilian men are handsome,as well as some tall black American men like Denzel Washington.

We aren't that obsessed with race in Holland as in the US. But we mostly have all Northern European ancestry. I hardly ever see black or non Dutch people when I'm out. We all look the same, sometimes it's a little boring. But I like the foreign exchange students from Ethiopia and Somalia and India. Very handsome indeed.

cause they do or there would be no mixed race couples and children. Think maybe it might be a personal preference like being more attracted to blondes or brunettes.

Do HUMANS find other races attractive? What? We're all humans, you idiot. How the h**l is a "race", a concept created to differentiate human beings affect how a person is attracted to another human? No, there's no such thing as -races-, there's just the HUMAN race.

Also, have you been living under a rock or something? Plenty of people from different "races" as you say, are married together, and have children together.

C'mon man, get with the times.

as a human i have never met another race from another planet so i cannot say. as an ethnically european white person i find women from places such as the middle east, india, and central america more attractive than white european women.
