Most animals have natural predators and competitors in their habitats. Do we, as animals, also have predators and competitors? How do we deal with these problems?

  1. other humans

  2. We did at one point, but now we compete with our own kind.  We use war, peace, drugs, education, ignorance, s*x, money, decease, pollution, diplomacy, and many other things to get what we want.

  3. Humans have no natural predators in nature.  Our only potential predator (and competitor) is other humans.  Interestingly, that is exactly what Charles Darwin said when he delineated his observations regarding evolution.

Darwin stated that one of the causes of evolution is that there is a constant interspecies struggle for food, water, and space.

Humans were once involved in that struggle.  At that time, humans WERE part of their ecosystems and ate and got eaten just like all other organisms.  But, due to evolution and the development of our brain, we have come to circumvent the environment and eliminated ourselves with things like air conditioners.

Michael R's reply, that humans are not animals, is complete and utter pure bullsh*t.  Then, his comment about Satan is also the same BS.  His religious comments have no place in science.

Tell us, Michael ... what would happen to the ecosystems on earth if humans didn't exist?  THEN ... tell us what would happen to the same ecosystems if bacteria and fungi didn't exist.

  4. no from the animal kingdom, we are on top per say

  5. We did until we figured out that sharp pointy things are useful.  Too bad that we still have fearful brains even though we have massively powerful pointy things now and we don't know how to use them responsibly.

For all you people who think that we are 'naturally' at the top of the food chain are you willing to go up against a saber tooth tiger without a sharp pointy thing?

  6. Only themselves

  7. Nope. We're at the top of the food chain... Unless of course your teacher is out to get you and gives you a question like this for your hw, heheh...

But really, humans no longer have natural enemies as a species because we've advanced like so. The only dangers we have are ourselves and certain diseases and bacteria that evolve with our technology.

And I think you can figure out the rest of it from there. Good luck!

  8. well mosquitoes?

    malaria?

    ticks?

    rabies virus?

    too small?

consider, malaria has killed more of us than everything else put together.

    "they're parasites" you say.

    and what are parasites?

they're carnivores that eat their prey in units of less than 1.

  9. well like in Africa the have

    Aligators, Crocs, Lions exc...

India there are Tigers and such.

here in america we kill all our or they died off in the last ice age but i guess bears count lol and mountian lions

  10. Human's do not have any natural predators. Obviously there are animals that will attack humans, but the reason for this is to defend their territory, offspring, etc. There are no animals that depend on humans as a source of food (i.e. the definition of a natural predator)

  11. Only ourselves. By killing each other mostly.

  12. WE aren't animals, but we do have predators and competition.  we have little fear of being lower on the food chain than another inhabitant of Earth, but we do have to fear the hunger for power among our own kind.  since we have a corrupted nature, we have a propensity for evil, and dominion over fellow humans.  it starts as envy, and bossiness, and grows up into egotism, mania, phobias, mental disorders, and psychosis...in short we are the only inhabitants of earth who have to spend 18-20 years teaching our offspring how not to follow their instincts..   We do have an enemy...Satan...his name means"adversary", and he is a predator who as a "roaring lion walketh about seeking whom he may devour", and his goal is to get us to follow our own natural instincts.  scary, huh?

  13. we do have competitors in our bodies like parasites that host in or on our body... they try to get the supplements we also need... proper hygiene is a good way of preventing from getting parasites such as lice, etc

for predators, animals who are vicious and could eat us... and humans alike...

  14. Humans have other humans with gunz and a sh*t load of anger management issuses. How do we deal with these issues? By spotting a potential Cho Seung Wi and alert the proper authorities.

  15. We did have competitors, other hominids.  They aren't around anymore.

  16. While there are other predatory animals that will eat humans, only the polar bear will actually hunt human beings.  And as is the case with overpopulation of any species without natural predators, we are destroying our environment and eventually ourselves.
