If so, what do they look like?

Would it be possible to build one and hope to attract the birds to your garden?

thanks

  1. Yes, their nests are small cups made of small twigs and pine needles.  They often will cover them with bits of moss or lichen to camouflage them.  Attract them with a hummingbird feeder and then they'll build their own nests.

  2. yes it looks like a nest made of twigs.

red flowers and a hummingbird feeder will attract them.

  3. The females build the nests before copulation and that takes them about 2 weeks to 20 days. Their nests are cup or turban shaped and are made of plant and with spider webs.

Pay Attention To What The Humming Bird Needs

There are two important things that pertain to all humming birds. Humming birds usually build small nests and they will never live in the same humming bird house with other birds. So, in order to build a humming bird house that the humming bird will like, one must keep these two important factors in mind at all times.

  4. Yes

they are small nests built by gluing sticks and grass together with hummingbird spit.

Building a nest will not attract hummingbirds, though a hummingbird feeder will. However, it is late in the season and most species of hummingbirds (unless you live in parts of California or Arizona) have already begun their migration back to Latin America or will migrate within the next few weeks.

  6. yes they do, there used to be humming birds who would build nests right outside my window... it's a small nest tightly woven, they were actually in a pine tree

i don't think you could make any bird's nest, they like to make their own

but you could put out humming bird feeders to try to attract them and make them live near by

  7. Yes..all birds build nests to reproduce.  However, breeding season has recently ended..hummingbirds will not start nest building again for a while.  No, you cannot build a nest for a bird..they will build it themselves to reproduce in..birds do not LIVE in nests..they are temporary "nurseries" for their eggs and babies.  Also, depending on what part of the country you live in..you may not have hummingbirds around for much longer.  Most species are migratory and many have already started migrating.  If you live on the west coast of the US, they are resident year round..if you live anywhere else in the country..the hummers will be few and far between..a few migrating stragglers at best.  During the spring season..or if you live on the west coast you can plant brightly colored flowers or put up a hummingbird feeders to attract them.
