  1. no, alot of guys I know (me included) never even touched a gun before we enlisted.

  2. No, as animals dont shoot back, there is no factual evidence that you will become a good soldier beacuse you can kill animals. You have to remember that the enemy you are shooting is very capable of killing you quicker then you think. They are trained in the same, similar or are better trained than you will be, these will be the deciding factors.

  3. Kind of. I mean I am a deer hunter but I didn't go enlist in 11B. Although if they put me in Afghanistan, would I have a problem killing someone that was trying to kill me, wouldn't be a problem at all.

  4. Not necessarily. Many people view animals as a lower species therefore have an easier time killing them.

  5. Not in modern day armies but during world war 1 the first sharpshooters were scottish game keepers known as "sniper's". They were experts at stalking animals, concealment and precision shooting. Their name still holds to this day.

  6. Actually.....from experience.....it is easier to make a combat troop out of people with little or no hunting experience

Often , with hunters, you must break old bad habits.

But the ability to "shoot'  is only a small part of what it takes to function in combat .... I can think of no skills a hunter would have that would give him an edge.... hunting and combat are not even remotely related.....Deer do not shoot back
