  1. It's virtually the same quality, but HDMI provides one cable instead of your 3 component, and just as a bonus it throws in surround sound in the same cable, so HDMI is the way to go.

  2. The video quality should be the same. HDMI has some advantages in convenience since audio and video are carried on the same cable. But if you're planning on using your old AV receiver for the sound, component might be a good choice.

  3. HDMI is the way to go.

  4. HDMI cables obviously.

  5. HDMI HANDS DOWN THE WAY TO GO. FRYS ELECTRONICS HAS THE BEST ONES FOR ABOUT 30-40 DOLLARS

  6. It depends upon the TV (and quality of your cable service).  Both of the TV's I have overscan component, so the edges are cut off and it is not as sharp as HDMI/DVI or VGA.  Even though VGA is not digital or as automatic as digital, with proper adjustment it is just as good and pixel perfect as HDMI or DVI.  I cannot find adjustments to do that with component (probably hidden service adjustments).

  7. HDMI is better, why else would they develop new technology if it wasn't?

You don't need to overspend on an HDMI cable either...here is a one at a good price
