Do i get charged for receiving long distance calls?

just want to know.. we have our service with AT&T and we only signed up for the local calls.. [im talking about land phones by the way.. not cellphones..] my friend wants to call me.. she's from another state.. im in Calif right now.. would that cost me if she calls me? its gonna be a long call i guess and i dont want my parents to be bothering me with the cost for the bills

  1. i dont think you get charged because you arent making the call.

    in case your going to, get a long distance card at any store.

    you can get 525 minutes for like 20 bucks. you just call a 1800# and punch in a number thats on the card!


  2. No, it does not cost money to receive phone calls on a landline unless they are collect calls (If they are, you will be warned before accepting the charges).

  3. NO charge to you.  Unless she calls collect.You must accept a collect call.  NO accept, no charge.

    You will be OK

  4. No, there is no charge for receiving long distance calls unless she reverses the charge via an operator (but this doesn't appear to be the case with your friend). You cannot ring out long distance under your AT&T contract  but would be charged by another provider.

  5. No it wont cost you at all if she calls you.

  6. On a land line? No you should not be charged for long distance or any calls that you receive.
