i graduated from a 4 year college in NY with my bachelors of science in business and public management. i have recently moved to NC and decided that i really want to teach. what would be the best route for me---get my masters in education? or a second bachelors in education (then my masters if necessary)? i would like to teach at the elementary or middle school level. im not looking for the easier/faster way...i want to know what would be the best way in the end. thanks in advance!

  1. I had a degree in psychology but wanted to teach high school.  You can get your masters and earn your teacher certification at the same time.  I am now certified as a high school social studies teacher.  Many people in my position get their masters in curriculum and instruction and you can take the classes needed to get certified.  Of course, you still have to take the tests to become certified, but they are pretty painless.

  2. NC teachers are paid based off of education and experience and you do not have to have an undergrad in education to teach - just be able too get certified.  I would suggest getting a master's degree in education instead of another bachelors degree.  You will have more flexibility with your career options down the line.
