Do i give full refund or refund it minus the paypal fee?

someone bought an item from me on ebay and is returning the item. do i give the full refund or should i give the refund minus the paypal fee. the item was 250, now when he paid on paypal they charged me a fee of 7.55, now i need to return the money? the 250 or the 242.45, and how would i explain it to the guy.? thanks

  1. When you give a refund, Paypal will also refund the fees that they took from you.

    What was the policy stated in your listing (do you have any refund policies?)

    It really depends with you. Some sellers deduct the shipping expenses from the total amount since the seller has shipped the item. Other sellers will just refund the full amount

    But do not refund until you have received the item


  2. You should give him back the amount he paid on the product.  Whatever he paid (what you posted as the price) is what he should get back.

  3. It all depends on what is more important to you, 7.55 or having a good reputation for excellent customer service.

  4. If this auction was just finished within the past 3 days, Paypal gives you the option of returning the entire amount with no charge.

    If not, then yes, you have to explain how you paid for the listing, etc., and cannot return the entire amount.

    But if the item is being returned due to your negligence, then you must return it all.
