  1. You have to pay if you want to take the boat ride (Maid of the Mist), if you want to use the tourist binoculars on the main causeway, and if you want to go into any of the museums or towers in the area, there may be certain entry fees.

But to go look at Niagara Falls, no there are no charges. You should visit them once during the day to see them and feel the power and the spray of the mist. Then come back at night when they turn on the lights and see them again in a different way.

  2. to see the falls? no! to do any of the attractions then yes! there are a few things to do with free. nature walk down the gorge to the side of the river. (beautiful walk. Just go to the information centre and ask where the gorge is they'll know)  Walking through Niagara-on-the-lake (about 20 minutes up the road) walking through the town of queenston (about 5 minutes fromt he falls).  Queenston Heights is a gorgeous park and you can see Brock's Monument (although it is covered with scafolding for now because they are doing renovations lol)  But if you go next year it should be open and is only a couple dollars to climb it.

In Niagara on the Lake there is a place called Fort George which is great for a few hours to walk around it is $11.70 for adults but well worth it.  You canw alk around clifton hill in the falls but won't be able to do much without paying but it is a nice walk.'

Skylon tower is fun to go up but also costs a bit of money.

  3. Unless you just plan to drive around in your car, you will very likely have to pay for parking or shuttle service no matter what you do.  Free parking and walking is possible, but it fills up quick and would probably take up too much of your short period of time to find.  A parking fee of about $8-10 should get you close enough to the Falls to walk.  Also, the Niagara Parks Service offers a $10 parking lot which includes a free shuttle service to and from the Table Rock Complex.  Their observation decks (both indoor and outdoor) are free.  They get their money from other attractions, shopping and their food service, all of which is optional for you to do.

Also, most permanent attractions have some sort of admission fee.  If you just want to see the Falls and nothing else for a short period of time, it probably won't be free but it can be done for relatively little money.
