i am 15 years old, started tennis when i was 14..my dad really wanted me and my sister to begin tennis about 7 months ago so we started taking lesson. we played when we were younger like 4 or 5 years old and i quit. i have been playing everyday for 3 or 4 hours everyday and im now on my varsity team playing 1st singles my serve is reaching roughly 80 mph and my groundstrokes are unbelievably fast and crazy topspin, do you think by the time i graduate and possibly get a college scholarship, after that i could go pro? i have the work ethic and determintation to do whatever it takes and am willing to do whatver

  1. Only problem can be, that you'll "burn out". Meaning, you play a lot every day and it can be annoying for a young girl to watch all her friends go out and live a "non-athletic" kind of life.

It's hard and it demands commitment.

  2. if u continue to work yah u can i mean idk enough about tennis scholarships so idk but i would think yes

  3. As much as you say you work, and I'm sure you are a hard worker, your dreams of turning pro are pretty much over. It takes an INCREDIBLE amount of work to turn pro, I'm talking AT LEAST 5 hours on court a day, honing your strokes/match play, followed by AT LEAST 2 hours of strength/stamina training. At 15, most girls are at least top 200 in the world on the WTA circuit, and are already making headway into pro events. Seeing as you have only played for a year, there is no way that your groundies and technique is honed to that ability. A college scholarship however, is more than attainable. My advice to you is to start playing USTA tournaments. Get your ranking high enough to enter national, and super national tournaments. Those are the best the U.S. has to offer. If you want to go further, you can enter the ITF junior circuit tournaments where you can compete against some of the best juniors in the world. That should give you more than a good idea as to where you stand as far as how good you are.
