So on the 2nd i was in a car accident and got pretty banged up. Yesterday i went to get my shin area x-rayed because it's still pretty sore and i thought i had a hairline fracture.... they said it looked good. Today it swelled up a lot and it hurts really bad. My ankle is swollen now and you can't even see the ankle bone.... she stopped the x-ray right before my ankle...sometimes it feels like my bone is snapped in half and sometimes it doesn't hurt at all.... i'm worried that there still may be something wrong. You can't see any bruising but is my bone just bruised? Or could my shin hurt too even if it's my ankle that is fractured....hairline fracture??

  1. go to the doctors again..

u shouldnt walk on it u need to ice it and elevate it above ur heart.

make sure and go to the doctors tho.

  2. Yikes, it still hurts this badly after 11 days?  you most definitely need to back to your doctor. You may have ligament damage, tendons torn, or muscles torn.  An X-Ray is not the only way to determine your injury. If your insurance allows it, go to an orthopedist instead of your regular physician.

In the meantime, use ice on the swelling and sore parts (20 minutes out of every hour). Keep the foot elevated.  Take ibuprofin for pain.

    Good luck!!

  3. Hun, yes you can bruise a bone. i feel like that in the morning after playing vollyball. Your fine, i just asked my brother [ special docter ]

he said to go to the docter, tell them to x-ray your entire leg + foot.

he said it COULD be a minor injury or a sprain/strain.

Hope you feel better, take some Advil or Ibuprofin

  4. Go to the ER and ask for a full leg and foot xray there is the possibility that they didnt see the hairline fracture in the 1st xray

  5. You need to contact your doctor immediately. Tell them the amount of pain that you're in.  Since an x-ray was already performed, the next step would be pain meds and an MRI.  MRIs can produce a lot better images than a plain film x-ray, and give your doctor more answers. I would suggest an MRI, and make sure you get a copy of the films to take with you in case you have to see an Orthopedic Specialist/Surgeon.  I hope you feel better soon!

  6. To everyone who is telling you to go and just tell them what x-rays you want... it doesn't work like that. You have to have an order from a doctor in order to get x-rays. It's like a prescription - just like you can't walk into the pharmacy and get drugs without the order from a doctor.

  7. I would call the ER your when to (or the place where you got your x-ray) and ask them if you could get another x-ray because you are in pain.  Also, if you go back or even if you don't go back, ask them to give you some pain meds, or ask them what type of brace to get to support your ankle.
