Question:

Do i have a healthy lifestyle?

So, I'm sure this is a dumb question but I'm unbelievably health conscious but i'm very 'to myself' about it...

So, exercise wise I ride my bike around 20 miles a day (fixed gear, no coasting, 15mph on average) and my legs are completely rock hard. I run about 3 miles a few times a week. Crunches and weights every now and then. Lots of walking as well.

Eating habits, I am vegetarian borderline vegan but still eat dairy for calcium purposes and what not. I do eat out a lot but I always eat at healthy restaurants... although I do have a big indgulence, ice cream. I work at a coffee shop that serves ice cream, and I do eat a lot of it, but i generally think it balances out.

I'm 16 yrs old, I'm 5'4" and 120 lbs... it is all muscle for the most part (i have a bit of a tummy, but I think all girls do).

So, overall, do I exercise enough and is an indulgence here and there ok?

  1. No food is off limits, as long as it's in moderation.  Ice cream is one of the things that makes life worth living!

    Make sure that you are getting enough protein, though, as a vegetarian.  Most non-animal derived foods that have protein, like grains and legumes, don't have all the amino acids so they're not a "complete" protein.  You have to combine them, say  wheat and a legume, to have a complete protein.  I'm only saying this as general knowledge, you seem to be very healthy.

    You should measure your overall health by body fat %, not by the scales.  A dehydrated person could have a high fat % and weigh less than someone who was well-hydrated and also had lots of lean muscle and dense, well-calcified bones.  Go by your energy level, how you feel energy-wise, and how your clothes fit.
