i have a bad wisdom tooth that's been giving me ALOT of pain when i look at it (sorry ahead of time) the wisdom tooth is broken down to the gum line and in the hole is a tiny bump that hurts when pressed on. It hurts to chew and close my mouth and now my lymph node is tender, i have never had an abscess i always thought that an abscess was just on the outside of the gum and the pic i see they are bigger than this tiny bump, is it an abscess that i have? If so since its in the wisdom tooth will they extract it or is it best for them to save it?

  1. if the bump is inside the tooth itself it sounds like a pulp pollup.  this is an unusual but not rare reaction to pulpal invasion of bacteria.  If the bump is on the gums then it sounds like a routine abscess.  as far as wisdom teeth go, with infections, when in doubt...rip them out.
