i am running a window xp professional

my com keeps having a pop up msg that says <calc.exe application error. The instruction at 0x0390000 refrence memory at 0x00390000. the memory could not be written. click OK to terminate the program. click cancel to debug the program >

it pops up every 5 sec and the calc.exe keeps running itself.

i tried to block the calc.exe but everytime i do that, the com shuts down.

i also tried deleting it from the system 32 but reappears after every 5 sec.

i cannot run any of my games as it would cause the computer to restart.

the application error message stops right after i end my IEXPLORER.exe but it does not allows me to run my games.

my anti virus and anti malware could not detect anything.

is there any solution where i do not have to format my computer??

please help and any help would be greatly appreciated

  1. The problem might be with faulty RAM. Download memtest86 and run it on boot. It will scan your memory and repair it if there are any problems. Download it from www.memtest86.com

  2. Your calculator has been corrupted.

    Insert the windows XP cd.

1.Go to control panel->Add/remove program->Add/remove windows components->follow the wizard and uninstall and resinstall your calculator..

    See if its work.

If it does not then create new user account an see does it work.

If it does not then repair XP using your XP cd.

  3. have you tried running system restore?

(this may vary depending if you have your computer set up in classic menu mode)

    start-programs-accessories-system tools-system restore

you should be able to go back a few days ago or a few weeks ago to restore your computer to the way it was when it was working fine...

calc.exe is just windows calculator, i don't know why your computer seems to be insisting on running it...

you may want to try to run ccleaner, you can get this from www.filehippo.com. it is free, and it couldn't hurt to try.

you may also want to try out one or more of the registry cleaning programs that are there, or maybe even AVG antivirus,. it is possible that one antivirus program will find something another misses.

do not install two antivirus programs at once, though, computers hate that!

also at filehippo, you may want to try out some spyware removers, i like spybot and ad-aware the best, and those two cooperate fine, so you can install both at the same time no problem...

    good luck!

  4. Two options:

    1) Try this first:

    http://www.download.com/Advanced-Windows...

    2) Install a fresh window for your hard drive. Hard drive is now very cheap. You can buy another hard drive to install Window. Then, format this hard drive later.

  5. you should have used protection with so much cyber poon.

  6. I suggest you peruse the ParasiteDB database to see if the virus you have been infected with is listed:

    http://parasitedb.com/database.html

Also if you don't have any anti-virus / anti-spyware programs, I would recommend the free and reliable ones listed here:

    http://parasitedb.com/recommendations.ht...

If all these can't help remove your infection, then you may wish to consider engaging professional help:

  7. It certainly sounds like you have been infected with some kind of malware. Unfortunately, if you find one infection, it is highly likely you have another one. A virus, trojan or worm are all different types of infections/malware and there are some great FREE programs that can help you.

First, clean up (delete) your cookies, temp files and temporary internet files. I prefer to use Ccleaner (available at www.filehippo.com) to do this, rather than the built-in DISK CLEANUP, as I feel it does a much more thorough job - for example, it will clean out the index files on your next reboot.

If you want to use Disk Cleanup, you can find it if you:

    - Double-Click on My Computer to open it up

    - RIGHT-click on your C: drive

    - Choose PROPERTIES and then click on the DISK CLEANUP button

    - When done, reboot your computer.

Delete these files daily or run Ccleaner every day right before you shut your computer down.

2 - You should also have a good anti-virus program to help protect your computer. AVG FREE is an excellent anti-virus program, which can be downloaded from www.download.com. You might also choose Avast or Avira, both also free programs from www.download.com.

3 -Since NONE of the anti-spyware/anti-adware programs are 100% accurate in finding and removing spyware, you need at least two programs which you will run one after the other, not at the same time.

There are three excellent free ones:

    --Spybot, Search and Destroy

    --Ad-Aware

    --Spyware Blaster

All are available FREE from www.download.com

You will need to download, install, update (and IMMUNIZE in Spybot) and run them, one at a time. Be careful with the NAME of these programs - there are "look-alikes" with very similar names, that are in fact spyware themselves! Reboot after you install each one!

After this current infection is cleared up, be sure to run both of the above programs at least once a week if you are on the internet frequently and/or like to download music or files.

NOTE: Some infections prevent your from downloading the above programs. You may have to use a clean computer to download the programs and copy them to a thumb drive or CD. Then transfer the install files to the infected computer and run.

--Occasionally you will not be able to run these programs without being in SAFE MODE. To get there, reboot your computer and tap the F8 key, repeatedly until a menu comes up. You want to choose SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING.

4 -You should also have a good firewall to help protect your computer. Zone Alarm makes a totally free version (watch you don't download the 30-day free trial of the paid version). You can download this from the manufacturer at www.zonelabs.com
