Do i have an Abscessed tooth?

Just a month ago, my bottom left jaw started to swell. Days after that it calmed down and stoped hurting. It also got smaller. So just a few days ago i put my finger where it swelled up and i felt a bump. Every time i press on the bump it feels like the inside of my tooth is hurting. If i have an Abscessed tooth. What will they do to my tooth?

Oh yeah and 2 weeks before the swelling i had got a filling and the dentist said it was deep.

Hi,

Most likely you WILL need a "Root Canal Treatment" or RCT or "Nerve Treatement" of the tooth since you mentioned that the filling placed two weeks prior to the episode was "deep".

The symptoms that you described are consistent with dental abscess. DO NOT apply heat. That will cause the swelling to increase. Also, the pressure will buil up but won't have anywhere to drain. Therefore, the pain will get unbearable.

You might need a root canal. If the cavity was too deep and the they filled it into the nerve it can cause an abscess. If you were in pain and now your not its not a good thing. You need to have it fixed. Dental infections like an abscess can be deadly.

You'd need to visit the dentist to have an x-ray of the tooth region taken. That will reveal the actual level of infection in your tooth. If it's an abscess, you'd notice pus or bad breath in that area due to accumulated bacteria. I've been through a root canal myself, and a follow-up procedure is mandatory.

Before the root canal, the dentist will give you anti-inflammatory pills to reduce the swelling first. Nerve inflammation and infection causes gum swelling so cleaning up the infected root is a major part of the treatment.

WELL THE DENTIST WILL NOT TOUCH AN ABSCESS IF THEY PULL THE TOOTH THE PUSS CAN CAUSE A BRAIN INFECTION . PERSONAL EXPERIENCE THERE. I JUST HAD TO WAIT TILL IT WENT AWAY THEY WILL GIVE U AMOXICILLIAN WHICH IS AN ANTIBIOTIC TO HELP IT GO DOWN. BUT THAT HAS GOT 2 B AN ABSCESS.
