Do i have an infected toe nail?

the side of my big toe is swollen and hurts really bad. i poked on the inner part that connects to my toenail and puss came out? is it infected? what could has caused it and how do i make it go away?

you could have an ingrown toenail that has become infected.  you should see a doctor about it.

it could be an ingrown nail though

i soaked mine in boiling water to soften it up

then i got tweezers and pulled out the bit of nail stuck in my toe

it hurt a lot

but it fixed it

Pus is a product of infection, so yes.

It is an ingrown toenail. I had the same thing, just I waited too long so I had to have surgery. I highly recommend you soak it in warm water for about 30-45 minutes, and then try and work the nail that is ingrown out (up). If it doesnt work tonight then try tomorrow too. Only if you cannot work it out do you go to the doctor. The surgery hurts like bloody h**l.
