  1. When you contract herpes, the symptoms are just that of a viral infection, basically flu like symptoms.   The recurring outbreaks happen much later and wouldn't be just one bump but a whole bunch of little bumps, often red or white, which go away after a few days.   They say that one third of the general population have Herpes and many do not know it (some people don't even get the outbreaks).  They say that there's a 75% chance of contracting Herpes by having intimate contact (it's a skin disease so it's just skin to skin contact, ie.: not just unprotected intercourse) with an infected person.   Given those probabilities you can calculate your percentage chances of having herpes based on the number of liaisons with different partners you've had, ie.: ( 1 - ( 1 - ( 3/4 ) * ( 1/3 ) )^p ) * 100 where p is the number of different partners, note the equation assumes just one liaison per partner (the 3/4 value would be closer to 1 with each act of coitus).   As you can see, the chances are pretty high after just a few sexual partners ( 25% with one partner, 44% with two, 56% with three and 76% if you've had five different partners, higher if you've had s*x multiple times with these partners) especially when you consider that those partners may also have had other partners in the past and may be more active than the general population.

If it's just one bump on your v****a, it may not be Herpes but you should have it checked it out, especially if it hurts and if you are sexually active, use a condom every time.   A test for Herpes is a blood test for the antibody that the body produces to fight the virus, the virus themselves hide in your cells and are only out in the open during an outbreak.   Get tested, and if you test positive, get onto some medication to reduce spreading the disease.

Herpes is relatively benign although it is statistically correlated with a higher chance of contracting HIV so they think it may make it easier for HIV to invade the cells.   Other than that, it's just the occasional outbreaks and the possibility of the mother infecting a baby if the birth is during an outbreak.

  2. If you are sexually active the chances are yes, you could possibly have herpes. Symptoms of genital herpes can range from very severe to hardly noticeable. In fact most people infected with the genital herpes virus have no symptoms at all but can still pass the virus on to their sexual partners.

The only way you are going to find out is going to your doctor having a swab done to confirm.

  3. one little red bump could be any thing. like razor rash, sweat rash, pimples, boils, those are not stds and kind of normal to have.

herpes comes with symptoms like feeling as your getting the beginning of the flu (sore muscles and fever some times with head aches or stomach aches), swollen genital glands, trouble peeing and or burning when peeing, itching, burning and or tingling sensations under the skin of the genitals. but u could be a carrier which means u may have little to none of those symptoms. the chances of getting herpes are greater if u are having s*x, with some one that has herpes. if u have any of those symptoms along with your bump then get it tested for genital herpes at your doctor or local clinic.

  4. Get tested, it may turn out to be something harmless, but getting tested is better than worrying about it..
