I use to drink and get really drunk everyday( in my collage days) i drank like that for a long time, and had no controll,

and i considered myself an alcoholic. i could not stop. my liver has been seriously damaged as a result,

but now i have a job and i do not drink during the week, strictly, and find it easy not to drink.

i do however have a few drinks on saturdays. wine and beer. but only on saturdays. i do really enjoy drinking and do crave a drink by saturday.

Do i have my drinking under controll? an i an alcoholic? will i be fine drinking on saturdays?

  1. I don't think you are an alcoholic because you don't wake up in the morning wanting a drink every day. I love chocolate and have a treat day once a week and i look forward to that and crave it. It's just because you enjoy it. As long as you don't have a really big binge on a Saturday, and keep it to a reasonable amount (so you are merry but not sick) I don't think it's a problem.

  2. If you still crave a drink, then yes, you're still an alcoholic, just less so.

Once you've gotten to the point of only drinking because you want to, rather than because you HAVE to, then you will know you have overcome your addiction.

  3. ya, if your still having a sensation or craving for it then you are an alcoholic still.  just try going a whole week without drinking and if u see it drives u insane my point will be proven.

  4. Yeah you have your drinking under control and no your not an alcoholic.

  5. I don't think so. My lifestyle is a lot like yours, I used to drink everyday but now I just drink once a week (usually Saturdays). It's just a way of winding down & relaxing after dealing with a stressful week...but everybody is different, I think you'd know if you were an alcoholic though, like you did before.
