I really really am interested in this university, and i want to know if i have even a shot of getting in.

I have a 3.65 Gpa , in mostly honors and Ap courses

Sat 1110, ACT 24

great extracuriculars, tennis, clubs, community service, internship, full time job,

Even though my scores are low, can my grades make up the difference?

  1. I'll be frank - you won't make it. If you do it'd be a miracle.

With a 2400-point SAT a good public school like the University of Illinois has no good reason to even place your application into the pile designated for second readings once they see your SAT grade. A bare minimum SAT score should be around 1800 or so for this type of school.

If I were to take a guess (with no other information than that which you have provided), it would be that your fundamentals are exceedingly weak, or that you haven't mastered the art of taking long exams. There is absolutely no reason for scoring less than half the maximum score on the SAT if your grades are so good - this implies that your fundamentals, such as simple geometry, algebra, English comprehension are simply not up to scratch. Get adequate practice with middle-school level questions before moving on to high school questions.

With adequate background, a score of 1800 should not be a problem even if you were to sit for the SAT at ten minutes' notice. So work on it. Good luck!

  2. Interesting...you certainly ave the grades for the school...but I don't think everything else makes up for the low test scores

If I had to say...I would say that there's a 60% chance of you getting accepted with those stats...

If you raised your ACT to 27 or 28, and your SAT to 1550....then I say you have an 80% chance.

  3. If you mean UIC, then you should have no problem getting in.. seriously everyone gets in! and your gpa is impressive.

Now Uof I (urbana-champaign) is a little more selective.. they want about 540 in verbal and 630 in math.. which is the average or minimum... you still have a chance and you should definitely apply. sat scores aren't everything, colleges weigh out essays, gpa, and scores equally so you have a fair chance!

    Godd Luck!
