Get in the best shape as possible between now and tryouts. (7-7-08 to 8-11-08) and also lose like 20-30 lbs??

Im doing a diet and have gone into Kitosis and alreayd lost 4 lbs this week and my dad said that the weight loss will speed up.

Im going to the gym 4-5 days a week and working on my volleyball almost every other day.

Does anyone have any tips for me to get my arms and legs really toned and also any workouts to improve my speed?

  1. y r u losing w8 for vball? u don't have to be skinny to play vball

    u want to build upmuscle. the gym is good, but dont pay ateention to the scale, the more muscle u get, the heavyer u'll be, and thats a good thing. so quit ur diet, but don't start eating junk food

    you do know that as you lose weight it all slows down right? 25 pounds is a lot to lose

  3. the best volleyball players are built not tiny, you're gonna need a lot of muscle to be a good volleyball player but you're going to gain more weight with muscle than with fat so don't even get on the scale.  You're gonna get bigger and bigger with the muscle that you get. go for runs and lift weights, but definetely don't hurt yourself.  yes you care about what you looke like but you're just gonna get bigger with the more muscle mass you have

  4. I think if your diet has been that effective so far, you could definitely pull off the weight loss.

    I recommend plyometrics for quick and effective muscle building. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plyometrics

    It will help with your vertical, calf strength, leg flexibility, and make you much more toned.

    To improve speed, try some speedwork (yes, its actually called that =])

    Some of the basic speedwork drills:

    30 seconds, both feet side to side over a line as fast as you can

    30 seconds, criss crossing over the line

    40 seconds, "baseball diamond" (essentially, start at "home", then go in a diamond, and when you get back to "home", switch directions as fast as you can

    45 seconds, 6 spot. (start at a base, then jump 2 feet to the left, back to base, right, base, front, base, back, base, twist in a good athletic position to the right, base, twist left, repeat.)

    Also, for leg toning, about the best thing you can do is jump rope, because it builds endurance while building muscle, too.

    To tone your arms, find a box or something about 8 inches to a foot off the ground, sit on it with your hands on the edges facing out, stretch your legs out, and push up and down almost to the ground. (this tones your triceps)

    Also, you can take a 10-15 pound ball and find a partner & toss it between the two of you for a few minutes.

  5. first off losing alot a weight such as 20-30 pounds is very unhealthy in a short amount of time. Just limit your intake of foods espeically fatty and high in calories. The main thing is to portion your food, don't elminate one such food group. And just keep going to the gym but don't workout too much too the point that you hurt your self!

  6. are you kidding me...the best vball players are kinda chubby. you dont want to lose the weight, you want to turn it into muscle. i would use muscle protein if i were you that has a thousand calories=]
