Do i have to be an american citizne to apply and get fasa or government grants?

i am preparing for college and i am a permanent resident and has lived her for practically my whole life. and now i want to apply for FASA or governmet grants. but i donht know if i can because i heard you must be a citizen inorder to get FASA

  1. You don't have to be a citizen but you do have to be an eligible non-citizen. You can read how the government defines eligibility here:

  2. to get money from the government, you have to have a social security number..and from what i know, if ur a permanent resident, that means you have a social security number...so if you have social security number, you'll be able to get FAFSA
