Id like to sign up to a few affiliate programs and run them on my website, i know i can make half decent money as i know how to get traffic to my website, i have all the confidence that i can do this as im a website builder too (which helps), but to be honest im just an individual person with no intentions of making money as i just want to do this for fun as its my hobby, just that i know ebay requires a tax number to pay me my earnings, but that must mean i have to be registered????

I really dont want to be dealing with all the hassles of registering as a business because to be honest i may only be earning a tenner a week (a tenner is better than no money).......

So whats your opinions on this?????

  1. You would not be required to register for any sales generated as an affiliate. You may be required to pay income tax.

  2. I've run affiliate schemes on my websites before, and I simply signed up as an Individual. Squillions of people run these Sites from home/Uni/school so it's perfectly ok not to be a business. You will still need to give them your bank details though so they can pay you comission.

  3. No, you don't need to be a registered business in order to operate as an affiliate.

You will be liable to pay tax on any earnings, so keep a record of all income.

Go for it, and good luck with the site!

  4. Is this an affiliate site? Where they pay you to drive sales to their site? Like this one:

They pay £20 for each sile you drive to their site, I am guessing that is what an affiliate website is?

  5. To market affiliate products and services you do not need to register your self as a business, and generally your "tax id" on an online application is probably asking for your social security number.

I registered my business ( www.my-easy-promoter.com ) and it was very easy and very fast. I registered online in about 10 minutes. The Ontario Government website has the form on it.

Also if you treat is as hobby you will make hobby money.

Treat your marketing as a business and you can probably quit working if you work smart....I did
