Do i have to change VIN Number if engine is changed?

I have a car and my engine is not working. so i am getting this replaced with another engine from another car. Do i need to change the VIN number? What is the process?

  1. No you dont change the VIN# or anything just put new engine in and go.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,UJN


  2. Normally no. Ohio required the new engine serial number to be noted on the title.

  3. no Vin# is for vehicle only.(Body). has nothing to do with motor unless you want to keep your car a # matching vehicle.

  4. No.  The VIN stays with the car for its life, doesn't matter if the engine or transmission or any other part is replaced, the VIN stays.
