I have the basic white, but new sky box, given to me by a neighbour.

I was wondering if i need sky to install a dish or if i can get another company to do so. And then can i get the sky freeview card to work?

  1. if you have your own free equipment sky wont do it , but they will charge you £150 for the freesat install (box, dish, card install). which area do you live in?

  2. http://www.freesatfromsky.co.uk/faqs-fre...

  3. You need the dish to receive a signal. The box is designed to take signals from a sat dish. to get free sat you have to get the dish installed and pay £150 one off payment. its not that much less than a monthly basic subscription so I would just subscribe and then after a year revert to free sat if you no longer want to subscribe.

Alternatively search specialist forums on sat dishes (theres loads) and see if you can get another dish installed and if this would work with your sky receiver. however you can get the things you need, apart from the dish, from b n q as well.

if you don't want to go to all that trouble just get a £20 freeview box that takes signals from your normal aerial .
