Do i have to give my address when returning items to shops?

When i return something for a refund and am asked for my name and address can i refuse to give it under Data Protection ? I dont like giving it so i usually refuse but am i obliged to leave the details or not?

I can beat this, i was at currys yesterday to buy a vacuum cleaner and they REFUSED TO LET ME BUY   it without giving my address, i questioned this and the manager confirmed it, the assistant encouraged me to complain. I have complaimed to their head office last night - am waiting a reply - i will keep you posted
