i'm going to grade 9...

and i had this test in grade 8 for E.S.L...

and if you fail this test then you would have to go to E.S.L. at high school...

but if you pass the test then you won't have to go to E.S.L. anymore at high school...!

but i had failed the test...

the only thing is, i don't want to go to E.S.L. anymore...

my mom thinks that i shouldn't go to E.S.L. in high school because she thinks that i should work on school works not E.S.L. things...

and my mom had hired an english tutor for the weekend...

so she doesn't want me to go to E.S.L...

when i was doing E.S.L. i found it really not helpful...

i had to miss few classes becuase of E.S.L.

i had to skip science...social studies...math...

which made me miss most the notes and stuff...

and made me fail tests and projects...

i failed projects sometimes becuase i didn't have any class times...

so when school starts, my mom is going to ask...

are they going to say yes...?

or are they going to say no...?

help...!

  1. u can waiver yr right to ESL.

that means u can sign a piece of maker that says u opt out of it.

  2. Have you tried explaining your situation - as you have here - to your guidance counselor? Perhaps you should take that route, and show him/her how strongly you feel about missing class time for ESL. Maybe they can run a lunchtime program for you. If they decline, as to be retested. Unless they have some school board rule against retesting, they should be willing to allow you to take the ESL test again. If all else fails, your parents should call or write a letter to the school explaining that they do not wish for you to be pulled out of classes to attend ESL, and that they will be ensuring you continue your English studies with a tutor outside of school. Even give the name and number of the tutor, in case the school wants to verify. Good luck to you.

  3. Do they ever retest? It is important that you understand the language of your resident country. If you need to do ESL, do it. Make sure to politely tell the teacher that you do not want to miss the classes that are a struggle for you.
