Do i have to have any lights on at night for my bearded dragon?

i have a celling fan and another on the floor will they mak him cold

  1. i would give him a black light. it will give him heat but wont confuse him about if it is day or night. and it wont bug u.


  2. You should be shutting off the light.

    You DO need to have another heat source though.  Get a ceramic heater (works like a light bulb, but with no light) or some sort of heating pad.

    Pads can burn pets so be careful.

  3. UV light sources must always be shut off at night.

    If the temperature falls below 64 degrees fahrenheit you should be using a either an under tank heat pad or heat lamp that emits a dim red light. Bearded dragons can't see red light, so red light won't disturb sleeping.

  4. You don't need any heat at night unless the temps drop into the low 60's. Beardies come from the desert. Although the desert is very hot during the day, the dry air becomes quite cool at night and beardies can handle temperatures in the mid 60's with no problems, and I have read that this cool down is good for them. I don't think the ceiling fan will be a problem, but youcould always place a towel over the cage at night to kkep the air from blowing in the cage.
