Do i have to have permission of some sort to have the word EBAY on my website?

i was wondering if i had to make contact with ebay before i put their name on my website. If the answer is no, are there any legal steps i should perform to have the ebay name on my site?

You definitely cannot use the words ebay in your domain name or business name.

The question lawyers use is whether your use causes consumer confusion.  Are you 'pretending' to be ebay?  Are you misleading people with your link?

If so, expect to get a letter from eBay sooner or later.
