Do i have to keep renting a dsl modem from my provider or can i buy one that does the same thing? for 2 pc's.

  1. Renting? We get to keep ours from at&t, but yes you can go out a buy one from a store to support your computers.


  2. It's cheaper to buy your own cable modem than to rent one. Here's the D-Link I use and it's only $40 after rebate right now.

  3. if your provider is making you rent one then you might wanna look into getting a differant provider..  most just give them to you.  you can run 2 pc's off one modem either by a hub or go wireless

  4. Yes you can but it will not work until you register the MAC number on the unit so they can activate it.

  5. you can go to wal-mart and get a new one with the wired and wireless connection in one made for DSL. and give the one that you are renting back. Like alread said give them the mac address so you can connect to your isp. If not wal-mart go to any computer surplus store  ( Tigerdirect ) and buy one.
