  1. wait 5-7 days before you try to handle him.... he needs to get used to his new environment... he needs to make it comfy for himself... if you try to handle him before he is acclimated, he will be scared, and will bite. if you continuously try to mess with him until he has acclimated, he will become a vicious hamster. give him a couple of days, try to pet his back, give him treats.

  2. Just wait a little while and let him adjust. I had the same problem with my hamster when I got him. ALL I wanted to do was play with him. I eventually just looked at him through the cage to determin what I should name him by his personality. I waited about 2 days and then I started to handle him.

    Hope I helped!!!!

  3. Allow your hamster to sit in its cage for a few hours when you first bring it home. Then place a treat in your hand. Keep doing this until your hamster comes up and accepts it. When they accept it several times they will eventually climb on to eat it. Slowly and while they are completely focused on the food, lift them in to the air and lay them on your lap with a good hold still on them and stroke their fur. Then place them gently in the cage. This creates a trust bond.

After you and your hamster have mastered this, place a treat over their head and make them come and get it. Every time say "stand" and eventually your hamster will stand when you say stand and there is no treat. Remember to give them a reward afterwards. You can do this with other tricks like "paw" only putting the treat in front of them so that they have to reach out and get it. You can do it with "come" or "stay" and basically any trick. This teaches them about you and you about them also creating a stronger trust between you as well as learning some new tricks.

    Tips-

-Remember to speak to your hamster and soothe them with your voice.

-There is a difference between taming and training. Taming is creating a bond, communicating and teaching each other. This will be harder then training for the hamster and you, so go more easy on them then you normally would while training.

-If you develop a strong bond with your hamster (by giving it lots of love and attention) it will be easier for you to figure out what it is trying to tell you.

-Hamsters live for attention! also sometimes they can be very agresive so treat them as your own child.I have a hamster to your not too forget about your hamster.

-Remember don't get mad at your hamster or don't yell at he/she because it will scare them and they will always be afraid of you and you don't want that too happen.

  4. Hamsters love Mozart. That will help him relax. Post a photo of your hsamster so we can have a look.

  5. I suggest waiting a couple of days for him to settle in a little and get used to the change in his enviroment. Otherwise you could stress him out and he could develop wet tail or another health issue.

  6. he's just a bit stressed from being moved. give him at least a few days and he'll settle in. four hours isn't long enough. you can play probably tomorrow or day after. depends on how long it takes him to get used to the new environment. make sure you check on him pretty constantly for now, to see if he starts acting more relaxed or anything. i wouldn't bug him for a while.

  7. yyyyyyeesssssss

  8. Yes, you have to leave your hamster alone until he gets used his new surroundings. I have attached my guide to taming hamsters. Hope it helps you to take the correct steps to ensure your hamster trusts you and becomes your best friend. All the best!

    Guide to taming hamsters -

Taming your hamster can be a long process, don't expect your hamster to suddenly like be handled over night. It can take weeks or even months depending on the hamster. Here the the steps to handling a hamster -

STEP 1 - When you first get your hamster leave it alone for the first 2 - 3 days to let it get used to it's new cage and surroundings. If you pick him up on the first day itself, he will definitely bite you since you are a stranger to him.

STEP 2 - Once the hammy seems comfortable in his new cage, start talking to him softly and hang around his cage enough for him to get used to your voice and smell. After this time feed your hamster some treats from your hand so he get used to seeing your hand. This might take a few days to happen but be patient. If you feel that the hamster still bites you, you can use gloves initially.

PRECAUTION - always interact with the hamster only when he is active. If you touch him or disturb him when he is sleeping, he can get angry and bite viciously.

STEP 3 - Once your hamster seems confident with taking treats out of your hand you can try to start handling your hamster. Before you handle your hamster make sure you have washed your hands well. Hamsters have a strong sense of smell. If they smell something on your hand they may mistake it for food and decide to bite!

Get a cup or something similar and place it into the hamster's cage. He should come to investigate and crawl inside. Take the hamster and cup out of the cage and let him walk out onto your hand. While you do this make sure you're sat down or sat close to the floor incase your hamster decides to jump. Let him walk from hand to hand. Be careful you don't grab or wrap your hands around your hamster until he is fully tame as this may scare him and he will jump out of your hand.

STEP 4 - Once your hamster is more confident with you, you can start to pick up your hamster straight from it's cage. Just make sure your hamster is aware that you are there, if not you may suddenly scare the hamster and it may turn around and bite you.

Best way to hold hamsters is to make them climb into one hand and cupping the other hand softly over the body so that his head pokes out from the gap between your two hands. Remember, do not apply any pressure on his body, he will get scared and snap at you.

  9. wait like 2 days so he can adjust to his new little home. then u can pet it and things like that. You dont have to wait [cuz its not like he will die lol] u should wait prolly like an hour if u really want to pet it. U need to let it get familiar with its surroundings

  10. Leave him in his cage and let him explore.  Ruffle his bedding with your hand so that he smells your smell.  Dont take it too quickly, especially if he is from a pet store because he has had no handling.  Be gentle and never pick him up, let him walk into your hand first.

  11. leave it alone for a week so it can get used to its surroundings and then you can play with it

  12. you dont need to wait - but go easy on him and dont play too much because then you will wear him out- i did that the first day

  13. allow your new pet to adjust to its unfamiliar surroundings in order to not make her fearful or accpet it as a bad place.

Give it time to be introduced to you,as the 'mom', and to object/smells within its cage. Make sure she gets plenty of food and water and read as much you can about hamsters such as safe foods and care instructions.
