Do i have to pay back my maternity pay?

HI,

I'm only 8 weeks pregnant and have a long way to go, but i was just wondering, when i go on maternity leave and if i don't come back do i have to pay back the money i received?? i know the employer claims the money back from the goverment but does that mena i might have to pay them still...??

not unless it is in your contract, my cousins wife had to pay it back, she worked for an nhs nursery!!

Congrats! I would check with your employer.  You should be able to contact your HR department and ask general questions about your pregnancy..I would find out as soon as you can so that you can plan accordingly.

I'm not sure about your job but with mine, if I quit, it officially starts before maternity leave.  If I don't tell them I'm quitting, I have to come back at least 2 weeks.  Otherwise, I have to repay the insurance company.
