i looked into this and decided against it

you have to "unlock" it and stuff.....which is fine....until you have a problem with the iphone and you want to get it fixed....apparantly apple dont like you doing this lol

Probably. Don't forget to get a transformer also, otherwise you'll fry your iphone. Might be cheaper to get in mainland Europe, actually. Most of that stuff is.
