  1. You should do MUCH more than sanding, but if thats all you want to do, make sure you use 220 grit silicon carbide paper (the white stuff) and sand every part. Paint will not fill in scratches or nicks.

Make sure that once it is painted you allow AT LEAST one week for the paint to cure before reassembling. There is a difference between dry paint and cured paint.

  2. arn't bikes made of metals, therefore i think the paint stripper would be much better, otherwise you would just be scratching the paint not getting it off.

  3. yes it would be a good idea to. it will make the painting easier ad more smooth :) good luck in your painting :)

  4. yes sanding is part of the key to shinne. in fact you should sand after every coat with a number 1000. if you do two coats with sand and the two final coats it will look amazing

  5. You should still sand it.  The surface should be slightly roughed up for the paint to adhere to it.  Use a high grit paper, like 800 to 1000 and you don't need to take all of the paint off.  If you are applying multiple coats, lightly sand in between for best results.  Clear coat after painting.
