Do i have to serve jury duty?

i received a jury summons less than 6 months ago. i told them i was able to serve, i called the count the night before and they told me my group was cancelled. yesterday, i recieved another summons in the mail. do i have to be available to serve again?? i live in az if that helps.

Probable differs in different states. Call the number on there and they should be able to tell you. If we are summoned in NJ and we actually serve we don't have to for the next three year's, I believe it is. But if we didn't serve they can and do call us constantly. I hate jury duty also, so don't feel bad and I always send in a letter to get out of it. I just don't believe in the so called Azz backwards court system. And how am I supposed to pay my bills on 5 dollars a day. So until they want to pay me nobody offers me a free living. I get out of it every time and I will refuse to serve an I don't care who says. what or comments. Jury duty stinks. Civic Duty my Azz

It amazes me how many people whine about this civic duty.

Just do it and be glad to live in a country that allows trials in this manner

If you don't serve then you can't complain about the government.

Doesn't mean you have to serve, but for the potential case, your a member of the jury pool.  Follow the same instructions, call the number and enter your code.  If you are called, you must present information, or medical that would exclude you from being a jury member.

depends on each state -- suggest u call them again and ask the question --- chances are u will have to serve and since ur an American -- its one of the things that we do to stay free

I live in Colorado and just got a jury summons.  Like you I called and my group was cancelled.  But at the end of the recording it said thank you and you have served you duty for the year.  I would question it if you were just summonsed six months ago.

Yes unless you actually served last time. Regardless, you do have to respond.
