So for half of my 10th grade year i was homeschooled and i loved it. I was wondering for my 11th grade year before school starts do i have to take a placement test to be homeschooled?

Or does my mom just get my books and curriculum and start homeschooling me after the state approves it?

Thanks for your help!

  1. You don't have to take a placement test in order to be able to homeschool under state regulations for homeschooling. If you are doing homeschooling under your state's laws, you can homeschool any time--you don't have to wait for it to be approved (that's just when the official approval comes through--they aren't going to take you to court for learning stuff before then!). She doesn't have to wait for the approval to purchase books--the approval's just a legal formality.

  2. Many of the available homeschool programs have placement tests for you to take.  We've only found them necessary when trying to ascertain reading or math levels.  We use a program called Sonlight.  It's really good, especially if you love literature.  It's a complete program.  Even the schedules are included.  It's a bit pricey, but we've found it well worth it.  Here's their link:

Just so you know, though, it is a Christian program.  However, the Christian content is present but not overwhelming.

  3. In La no.

Added Sorry my answer was so short earlier I had very little time to answer properly.

If I remember correctly you were Home schooling under option 2. Under that option there is no testing unless you are going back to public school. All mom has to do is order next years stuff and you guys can go at it.

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it this last year. Good Luck with next!
